In early December we decided, after much discussion, to cancel our Dish Network subscription. We already had one of the smaller packages and our tv is an off-brand box, so it’s not like we were utitizing the most advanced technologies anyway. To be perfectly honest, b and I moaned and groaned a bit during the discussion phase. What would we do in the evenings? How would we survive without sports?

But then we started to actually think about our evenings and how little we watch television anyway. Then we thought about how much money we pay each month to watch those few shows. And then we whined and groaned about how much money we were actually paying to watch each show…it was somewhat shocking.

In the end, we canceled our beloved Dish. In reality, we rarely miss it. For you see, we are busy living and spending time with each other in the evening. There is more CandyLand being played, more books being read (if that was even possible), and more happiness in our house.

We now have two of the DTV converter boxes hooked up and we have an antenna on top of the entertainment center. Sometimes we get shocking, if not terrified, looks when we tell people that we don’t have cable or satellite service.

And, yes, I do sometimes miss my Project Runway - but I’m not missing so much more.

After seven years of marriage to B I suppose I am finally brainwashed enough to actually consider myself a Cubs fan.

So, what a proud day in the Z household when B’s photo was highlighted on the blog, Bleed Cubbie Blue.

And it’s the playoffs!

A had her 3 year check-up today. She weighs 24 pounds and is 36 inches tall. She has grown in height but hasn’t gained any weight in several months – back on the supplements we go. Still, A is doing wonderful and is really thriving. Yay, A!

Her doctor tried to get her to sing ‘Go Cubs, Go‘ but A got nervous and didn’t want to sing. However, she was very impressed that her doctor has ‘Go Cubs, Go‘ as his ringtone.

And I knew Dr. Nanagas was the perfect pediatrician for us.
